“Run the Runway 5k” Update

After meeting with the Brandywine Airport the plan has changed to use the Helicopter Museum. There are many possible hazards with using the runway. To mention one….the possibility of children running onto the runway and the risk of injury.

Stay tuned!

Is It Time for a Sweat Test?

This test is different from the tests that you read about in books and magazines that only measure fluid loss and estimate electrolyte loss. This test measures electrolyte loss directly by using a “Sweat Patch” that is taped to the skin and placed in a test tube for laboratory analysis. The results vary significantly. There can be 2 athletes with identical fluid loss but one can lose 5,000mgs of sodium and the other just 500mgs.

To register for your sweat test visit: www.ketfitness.com/services/ and scroll to the bottom of the page.

Become a Sponsored Endurance Athlete

What are the keys and benefits to becoming a sponsored athlete?

The important factors that companies look for are:

  • Race schedule.

Frequent racing is needed. Your busy race schedule will help attract people to the company’s website.

  • Performance helps.

If you are a frequent podium finisher this helps….but it’s not a requirement.

  • Social Media Attention.

This seems to be the latest requirement for many companies. If you are a blogger or frequent Facebook user the company is likely to be drawn to your application. This means their name will be spread throughout cyber space. ….which means more attention.

The Benefits Are:

  •  Free stuff and lots of discounts…ranging from 20-70%…
  • And…connecting with a community of athletes sharing your love for endurance sports.
